Project Description
Cardigan St
When we got the call to go and provide a proposal for a Lake Wendouree home that had been in the hands of the same family for over 120 years, we didn’t know what to expect (see our blog for the full story). To say we were blown away is an understatement. This beautiful home has been lovingly kept as close to its original condition as possible which meant that we were dealing with peeling and damaged wall paper, burnt sections of wall and old floor coverings. It was clear this was going to be our most challenging project to date!
Working with the beautiful family who owned the property was a delight. We spent a lot of time at the property before commencing the project to assist with decluttering and reorganising the existing furnishings. Given the nature and history of the home, it was important for us to use as many of the existing pieces as possible. We bought in our own unique pieces to complement and highlight the amazing opportunity this house presented for its new owners. We wanted to highlight that although this home needed extensive renovation, it was immediately comfortable and liveable. We think we achieved that and then some. Our favourite room is that amazing bedroom. When some people walk into that room all they would have seen was peeling wallpaper and ripped linoleum. All we saw was ochre and aqua.
